What is the Southern Smoke Foundation?
We’re excited to share that Taco Boy is participating in a fundraiser in support of the Southern Smoke Foundation — a nonprofit dedicated to supporting food and beverage workers in times of crisis, distress, or when the unexpected happens. From farmers and fry cooks to servers and sommeliers, their mission is to take care of our own in the F&B industry.
What They Do
Emergency Relief Fund — Provides financial help to cover essentials like living expenses, medical costs, childcare, transportation, assistance during natural disasters, and unstable housing. - Mental Health Services (“Behind You”) — Offers free counseling to F&B workers in several states (including South Carolina) to address stress, trauma, and the demands of the industry. - Crisis Toolkit — Provides educational resources to help workers prepare for and navigate emergencies.
Why It Matters
The food & beverage world can be high-pressure, under-resourced, and unforgiving when life outside of work intervenes. Southern Smoke acts as a safety net — helping people who make it possible for all of us to enjoy meals, drinks, and gatherings, but who often don’t have much margin when things go wrong. Many of our own Taco Boy teammates have been directly supported by this foundation, making this fundraiser especially meaningful.
